
Dr. Mrs. Lydia Endaben Lakan holds a PhD in Library and Information Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Her educational journey began at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where she earned a Bachelor of Library Science Degree. She proceeded to the same University and obtained a Master’s degree in Library and information Science in 2008 and a PhD in Library and Information Science in 2018.
Dr. Lakan has attended various professional training and workshops, both nationally and internationally, in areas such as Strategic Planning, Quality Management System (QMS) implementation towards ISO 9001: 2017 Certification, Research Methodology, and E-resource Leaders Course on Research4Life and TEEAL Programmes. She has played key roles in advancing library services, particularly by establishing an e-library unit at the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom.
Her career trajectory spans multiple positions, including an Assistant Director in Library and Information Service at National Veterinary Research Institute Vom. She has served in various academic and administrative capacities, including her current position as the first substantive University Librarian of Karl Kumm University after the confirmation of her appointment by the 1st Governing Council of the University on 30th March 2023.
She has also been actively involved in professional bodies such as the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), and the Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (AULNU). She is a fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development [IPMD]
Dr. Lakan’s research interests include Knowledge Management, E-Learning, and Information Service Delivery. She has presented papers at conferences/seminars and contributed to academic book publications.
Dr. Lakan is married and blessed with Children.
