Executive Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has promised to visit Karl Kumm University Vom, Nigeria to see the developmental strides recorded by stakeholders and possible areas of assistance. Speaking when he hosted the University’s Governing Council led by Prof Hayward Mafuyai, Vice Chancellor, Prof Naven Gambo, and his management team, Mutfwang explained that he would not run away from the responsibility of helping the institution considering its significant role in producing quality leaders for the country. Earlier in his speech, Acting Prof-Chancellor of the University, Prof Mafuyai explained that “on 14th March, 2023, the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted approval to the University to run fourteen (14) undergraduate academic programmes through the full-time mode of delivery, under the Faculty of Science and Computing with 5 departments and the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences with 4 departments. Prof Mafuyai said, ‘Let me begin by thanking the Plateau State Government who pledged to build the main Library Complex of the University, under the administration of the past Governor, Simon Bako Lalong. However, we wish to draw to your attention that the project has not been completed. There is also a dire need for more classroom blocks and the completion of the Science Laboratory Complex, which is under construction. We hope that Your Excellency will still consider us for further intervention in these areas to help with our forthcoming accreditation exercise in October 2025.” “While the University has constructed a befitting complex for entrepreneurship activities by students, efforts are ongoing to furnish and equip the facility to enable students to commence skills acquisition training, as instructed by the National Universities Commission (NUC). Vehicles are required for operational and security services in the University.” According to him, the University is in dire need of resources to prepare for the accreditation of its existing academic programms by the National Universities Commission scheduled to be held towards the end of 2025. He thanked the Governor for granting the Council of the University audience despite his crowded schedule, adding, “It is indeed, a rare privilege for which we are immensely grateful.”
